The rain clouds were sympathetic and the ground remained dry for the Mattress Factory's annual Urban Garden Party. The weekend-long celebration kicked off with music by Buckeye, Thoth Trio, and Life in Balance; food from area restaurants; and flower-themed drinks provided by LUPEC (Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails). Close to 900 people attended, taking a significant toll on the rations of food and drink. The silent auction boasted great works of art, including ostrich eggs decorated by local celebrities and artists. An impressive "Larger-Than-Life" Raffle gave away roundtrip airfare to Sedona, Ariz., for two, a stay in the Enchantment Resort for three nights, and, in keeping with the artistic theme, a tour of James Turrell's Roden Center.
